2017 marked the ninth season of Junior B lacrosse in Port Moody, a program which extends the box lacrosse experience for those 16 to 21 year-old players who have graduated from the Midget ranks.
We have had excellent volunteer support from parents, players and other family members - something that is vital to the success of a non-profit organization. We are always recruiting for volunteer positions and if you, our somebody you know, may be interested in being part of a winning organization, contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org.

Things are again looking promising for the upcoming 2017 season!
The Port Moody Thunder is a member of the West Coast Junior Lacrosse League. As such, the team is bound by the mandate of the WCJLL constitution and will adhere to the guidelines as they pertain to the team. The league currently operates teams in Burnaby, Coquitlam, Delta, Langley, New Westminster, Port Coquitlam, Port Moody, Richmond and Ridge Meadows. The league is sanctioned under the BCLA Senior Directorate.
The Junior B lacrosse season runs from April 25 to mid-July with the top 8 teams advancing to best-of 3 playoff rounds and then Provincials during the BC Day long weekend in August. The regular season consists of 16 games. During the regular season, the Junior Thunder will normally have 3 sessions per week – one home game, one practice, and one away game. Home games are Thursday nights with an 8:30pm start at the Port Moody Recreation Complex, Arena #1. Away games are on a variety of nights with most games starting at 8:00pm. Check our Schedule Page regularly for updates.
The WCJLL mandates that Junior teams carry up to 25 players on their roster. Team membership is not automatic and interested players must attend pre-season training sessions in order to be considered for the team. Team selection process starts in March, continues until the beginning of the playing season, and is open to all residents of Port Moody, Anmore and Belcarra. Pre-season training information for the current year of play will usually be posted on the team website in January. All participating players will be evaluated on their performance during the pre-season. There will be a selection panel to observe and evaluate the player’s performance over the duration of the pre-season, with final team selections being made at the beginning of the playing season.
Note: Players may be added or released from the roster up to mid-June of the regular playing season.
Once a player is selected to the team, if the player is 19 years of age or older, the player will then sign the BCLA player registration card and become a registered player with the Junior Thunder, at which time the player will be expected to pay a registration fee. If the player is under the age of 19 years, a parent or guardian must complete the form and again payment of the full registration fee must be submitted at that time.
Once a player is signed to the Junior Thunder, the player is expected to pay the registration fee in full, becomes the property of the Port Moody Thunder organization, and is no longer eligible to play for any other team unless formally released by the team management.
Registration fee for the season is due and payable in full before the signed player will be permitted to play in any league games. Players are encouraged to bring in sponsors for the team to offset their registration fee.
